I Tasted the New Minecraft Pringles, Heres My Honest Opinion

April 2024 · 2 minute read

I’ll be honest: I don’t play Minecraft. I’ve never played Minecraft. I’ve never even watched someone play Minecraft. But I do like Pringles and I do like stew, so I was psyched to see that Pringles came out with a new chip—and it was stew flavored! Suspicious stew, but stew all the same. Inspired by the in-game food that gifts players with abilities, the new Pringles Minecraft Suspicious Stew is a limited-edition flavor hitting shelves nationwide this month. But what the heck does “suspicious stew” taste like?

I asked Mythical’s resident Minecraft players what they thought suspicious stew should taste like. “Like overcooked mushrooms?” one colleague said. “The ingredients are mushrooms and flowers in the game.” Another staffer suggested “the color brown plus something really sour.” According to the Pringles website, the crisps (because, remember, Pringles aren’t chips, they’re crisps) are made with “a blend of hearty stew flavors that end in a spicy kick.”

With all of that somewhat helpful information in mind, I gave the new Minecraft Pringles a taste. Here’s what I thought.

Pringles Minecraft Suspicious StewWhere to Buy

They don’t taste like Irish beef stew or really any other kind of stew I’ve ever had, but they do taste like the smell of vegetables cooking in beef fat after you’ve seared off your beef chunks when you are making stew. There are notes of carrot and a lot of deeply savory flavors (we’ll call those flavors generic mushroom). Mostly, there’s a ton of black pepper flavor. And I like black pepper flavor and the heat that accompanies it. When it comes down to it, Pringles are good. They’re a fun crisp to eat and these are a step up from plain Pringles, in my opinion. They’re no Cheddar & Sour Cream (our top Pringles flavor), but they’re a decent addition to the lineup, especially if you’re a Minecraft player who has, for whatever reason, always wanted to snack on a crunchy version of suspicious stew. Sadly, I did not gain night vision and I couldn’t jump any higher after eating these. Maybe they were made with the wrong flower.
